RECAP: March CE Dinner at Montefiore Medical Center

Last month we had the opportunity to venture into the Bronx for our monthly CE meeting at Montefiore Medical Center.

Montefiore hosted our 70 plus members in their grand hall at the Tishman Learning Center and provided food through their very own catering service. The night was packed with two CE presentations with the first presenter, director-at-large, Dr. Kanika Ballani, followed by Dr. Antony Q. Pham.

The first presentation “Clinical Trials: An Overview of Investigational Pharmacy” provided an in depth look at the processes of clinical trials and how pharmacists and staff play a role in the whole scheme of investigational drugs. Dr. Ballani also spoke about the integral role she plays as the clinical trials manager at NYU Langone Medical Center. Her presentation was followed by “Review of Pain Management Pharmacotherapy and Opioid Medication Dosing Conversions” where Dr. Pham spoke briefly about types of pain, which medications should be used to manage these types of pain, and when opioids should be used.

Dr. Kanika Ballani is the Clinical Trials Manager at NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr. Antony Q. Pham is an Assistant Professor at Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences of Long Island University.
