The August summer CE series began at Ichi Umi, in midtown Manhattan, for a night full of networking, a delicious seafood dinner, and seminar. The banquet room was packed from corner to corner with excited NYCSHP members. The exhibit prior to the event was sponsored by Eli Lily, providing information about their current insulin pen products. The night progressed to dinner at Ichi Umi’s buffet style cuisine.
President, Dr. Amisha Arya thanked the sponsors for their participation and then introduced tonight’s presenter.
Dr. Jerry Altshuler, from Yale-New Haven Hospital, presented “A Review of Recent Updates in Oral Anticoagulant Therapy CE” comparing the current oral anticoagulants available and the advantages and disadvantages that these agents had compared to warfarin. Dr. Altshuler also gave us insight into up and coming monoclonal antibody agents undergoing clinical trial and their potential in preventing thromboembolic events.
