Clear blue skies welcomed members as we arrived at Tisch’s 6th floor Smilow Conference Room.
President Amisha Arya, Pharm.D. welcomed everyone as they entered and invited us to the delicious Mexican themed dinner. We all introduced ourselves by our name, where we work, and what we’re excited about this upcoming month.
The meeting proceeded with updates from President Arya recapping the past summer events and discussing upcoming autumn CE and networking events. President-elect, Dr. Yi Guo, spoke about 2015’s CEs and topics and welcomed grant writing volunteers for future events. Immediate Past-President, Dr. Mary Choy, discussed ideas about community outreach and collaborations.
Dr. Michele Kaufman continued with the secretary report. Dr. Tran Tran discussed more about the budget in her treasurer report. Director at Large, Dr. Charrai Byrd, discussed public relations plans to promote American Pharmacists month through local newspapers, the Today Show, and potentially lighting the Empire State Building our society’s colors: blue and white. Director at Large, Dr.Karen Berger, discussed hosting student workshops and Clinical Pearls sessions with APPE preceptors as well as having legislative affair articles in every newsletter. Director at Large, Dr. Jason Babby, discussed plans with the instillation dinner and industry relation events, such as the upcoming CE.
Dr. Honey Hossain gave an update regarding the Bulletin reports and plans to further archive the reports. Dr. Kanika Ballani discussed upcoming brown bag events and potentially working with students for more community outreach events. NYSCHP liaison, Dr. Jordan, spoke about upcoming NYSCHP events across the state and collaborations with New Jersey and Connecticut. The meeting concluded with members discussing the upcoming opportunities with each of the speakers.
