This year, New York Cares Day was located at Intermediate school 117X – Joseph H. Wade Academies. This is a community service event where teams spruce up a New York City public school to help with the school’s personal projects and to make a difference. President Amisha Arya coordinated the NYC Pharmacy team.
Our team consisted of 14 excited and eager volunteers whose help was needed all over the school and who helped raise funds to help continue to improve New York City schools. We helped to clean, rearrange, and organize the school’s library, paint classrooms and offices, paint murals of the school’s mascot, and revamp the auditorium’s stage for future performances, assemblies, and award ceremonies.
The school had great team leaders to provide their vision of each of the projects, yet allow us to use our own creativity. By the end of the day, our team helped to fill the school with color, inspiration, and pride. New York Cares day was a great way to give back to the community and apply our creativity, leadership, and time, to help the participating New York School.
Stay tuned next year for when you can help participate in New York Cares Day with NYC Pharmacy! To learn more about New York Cares and future events, please visit http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/ccp.asp?ievent=1118274&lis=1&kntae1118274=36C4004504794545B71A9CAF12837D91&ccp=656634
