October’s CE program was held at City Hall Restaurant in downtown Manhattan. President, Dr. Yi Guo, welcomed attendees, thanked Astra Zeneca, and the NYCSHP Grant Writing Committee for making this evening possible.
President Guo introduced our evening’s Clinical Pearl speaker, Christopher Mendoza, a final year student pharmacist at Touro College of Pharmacy. Christopher presented ‘Pharmacist’s Role in Hypothermia,” which he had been involved in during his APPE rotation. Christopher discussed the psychopathology behind patient’s undergoing hypothermia, how we treat hypothermia, and how pharmacists can be involved during the critical moments.
President, Guo, introduced this evening’s speaker, Angela Cheng, PharmD, BCPS, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Clinical Pharmacy Manager of Cardiology at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Cheng’s, who is also the President-elect of NYSCHP’s Westchester chapter, presented ‘Practical Considerations for Using Novel Oral Antiplatelet Agents with Acute Coronary Syndromes.’ Dr. Cheng discussed the pathophysiology of ACS and focused on treating NSTEMI using P2Y12-inhibitors, clopidegrol, prasugrel, and ticagrelor. After a wonderful presentation, Dr. Cheng welcomed questions from the audience.
