NYCSHP members came together on an early Saturday morning at P.S. 214 Michael Friedsam School in Brooklyn to volunteer for New York Cares Day. This community service event was intended to spruce up the public school by painting classrooms, murals, and helping to organize book rooms.
Teams were divided up from a highly motivated group of volunteers to accomplish certain tasks. Members brainstormed about the kind of murals to paint on the walls and inspirational quotes to invigorate passerby students. Some final ideas included themes from Dr. Seuss and a wisdom tree, along with an environment-themed mural and an uplifting bird mural. We were excited to showcase our creative minds and artistic talent for a great cause that will enrich the experience of young children attending the school.
In addition, NYCSHP members used this opportunity to bond and create memories, while getting to know each other and making a real positive impact in their communities. A big thank you to dedicated NYCSHP members for making this event a great success!
