NYSCHP Chapters of New York City and Westchester County came together at Scaletta Ristorante in upper west side Manhattan for a combined October CE Dinner Program! The night kicked off in a great way as Kimberly Lapierre, Pharm.D Candidate 2017, presented a clinical pearl on the topic of “Redesigning the art of HAART: A focus on tenovofir alafenamide”. Thank you for the wonderful presentation to start off the program!
The CE speaker of the night was Dr. Joel L Zive, BS, PharmD, Clinical Professor at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. He spoke on the topic of “Retention Strategies to Transform Patient Outcomes in HIV”.
As an expert presenter on the topic, Dr. Zive pointed out that there are highly effective therapies available for HIV infection, but many patients do not reach treatment goals due to gaps in the care continuum after leaving the physician’s office. The role of pharmacists continues to expand as strategies to implement education and counseling strategies for patients about antiretroviral therapy has become increasingly important. A multidisciplinary care coordination is crucial to retaining patients in care.
The night concluded with members networking and enjoying the venue. See you at the next event!
