NYCSHP’s November Medication Safety CE took place on the first snow of the year in NYC at 212 Steakhouse in midtown east. Members gathered together to meet and to network.
Director at Large, Dr. Jamie Chin provided the chapter updates and encouraged members to donate to our toy drive. Next, NYSCHP Vice President of Public Affairs, Dr. Andrew Kaplan, provided a legislative update from the state council and answered questions.
Our clinical pearl presentation was entitled, “Do PPIs Reduce ICU Mortality?”, presented by Kelly Sessa, a final year student pharmacist from Long Island University College of Pharmacy.
The sponsored talk was provided by Genentec via webex due to the inclement weather, “Venetoclax-Rituximab in Relapse or Refractory Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia/Small Cell Leukemia”.
The Medication Safety Jeopardy CE was given by Jamie Chin, MS, PharmD, BCOP, Clinical Oncology Specialist from NYU Winthrop and Johnny Hon, PharmD, BCPS, Pharmacy Manager from NYU Langone Orthopedic Center.
Drs. Chin and Hon presented recent medication safety updates, then conducted the evening’s jeopardy game amongst five competing teams. The excitement and comradery for best practice guided the evening’s interactive game to facilitate learning.
